Chemical enlargement of root canals by decalcification of canal walls is used to facilitate mechanical preparation  of root canals. Edetal is a neutral solution which reacts with  tooth mineral content and, thereby forms easy for preparation  porous structure. Material is nontoxic; it is well tolerated by the periapical tissues. Solution is easy to use and allows to remove residual devitalized pulp and dentine, and hence makes it handy to file even narrow canals.
